The show did not gain a lot of popularity and was hence canceled. Intially the Pethewala family does not approve of Sanjana but later on accept her as their daughter in law. However the respective families have no clue about the same. But Sanjana’s parent would marry her off to someone else by the time he comes back to India so Ajju asks Ajay to marry Sanjana but it’s merely a contract marriage. Ajju needs to go the United States and hence is unable to marry Sanajana. Ajay marries his childhood best friend’s (Ajju) girlfriend, Sanjana as a hoax. The story revolves around the lives of the younger members of the family, namely, Amar, Ayush, Avni, Ajay, Bhushan, Utpal and Mishri.īhushan, the second son of the Pethewala family falls in love with a girl named Shreya to whom he eventually gets married with family approval. She believes in the importance of family and familial bonds and is proud of the fact that her family is a close knitted family and have traditional values along with a modern mindset. The family’s head is Sharmila Dadi, whose character is played by Madhu Malti Kapoor. The Pethewala family is a joint family who run their own sweet shop with the same name. The show tries to show the importance of a joint family in today’s time when families are going nuclear in their nature. The show was originally supposed to be aired under the name, “Pethewala” but was changed to Tum Hi Ho Bandhu Sakha Tumhi Ho.
