Actually it should not prompt, at least not for version 78 - both Firefox and Thunderbird have been changed so 64bit installs into the 32-bit program directory. This free PC software was developed to work on Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10 or Windows 11 and can function on 32-bit systems. if you try to install the 64-bit version it should ask you to 'update' your Thunderbird version and everything should be fine without uninstalling anything.
